#237 – Alan Brinker – Owner – Do-I.T.

We met Alan at the Pacific Hackers Conference. He was putting on a lock picking class. Alan talks about the crossover from physically picking a lock and how that can help build the right mindset to do it in the cyber world. He makes a lot of comparisons to IT and the physical world of construction, which is his other profession. He gives several good examples of why it is a good thing to know how to hack into a server. Say when your admin quits and you need access to your own server. . .There is also a great psychological gain to being able to learn to do it in real life, and that can carry over to the cyber world. Alan makes some good points on how abilities from outside IT and cyber can really help and transition to this field, if applied appropriately.
